Post by mewithoutus »

Bob Mould used one, as did Randy Rhoads, I guess that gives 2 ideas about the sound it can give.

Lacking a tone control = worthless to me.

I like this pedal muchly. The dunlop reissue (which I've also got) is not without it's merits too, but sounds a bit harsher.

I've got one of the dunlop reissues, and it's ok... I don't really like it that much though. I was just trying to find a good distortion pedal to use with my Twin Reverb so I bought it because I heard a lot of people talk about them. I've been kinda disappointed with it though so now I really just use my VOX Tonelab instead.

I tried, but he just refused. Some of you should try and convince him.

This my friends is distortion pedal.

Plus it's got those ginormous wheels on the side so you can adjust it with your feet while you play. (The matching Phaser is even better that way) And it's tough enough to fall from the roof of a moving car, get run over a couple of times and still work. I know from unfortunate experience.

All your puny distortions are belong to it...

But seriously, how are you digging the MXR?

its pretty cool. im not using it as a straight ahead distortion, but rather a "destruct switch. i hit it when im using my biog muff or something else so that it makes alot of loud noise and kinda feedsback alot. its really fun!

the sound by itelf is a little trebly for me actually.

You can't go balls out with those... sounds too harsh. I use it because it responds to my pick like no other distortion/overdrive I have ever had. Mine is from 1979. Guy Picciotto from Fugazi uses one of these.
