yeah it would 50% defeat the purpose.
but atleast i wouldn't have the ugly 6 saddle if i ever took off the ashtray

You wouldn't get the ashtray on anyway if you kept the original bridge. Looks like a fun project :D

points to consider:
- playing with the ashtray on is VERY unconfortable and unpractical.
- 3-saddle bridges look cooler but can be a major pain in the butt.

Not the Squier stock one. The ashtray needs the "lips" on the sides of the bridge to grip onto.

i don't think you can... the ashtray needs the lip of the vintage bridge to slide onto. that, and the dimensions are pretty different.

Yeah, when I changed the modern bridge on my MIM Tele (now on the Doogcaster :D) to the vintage one, partly so I could have an ashtray, the vintage one is a bit shorter and the ashtray just didn't fit on the modern one.

i have an arctic white MIM tele body that i think i might just turn into an esquire as well.
