wiring help

Post by Mo Law-ka »

to those of you with GFS lipstick tube pickups...
which wire(s) do i connect to ground?
there's a white, a red and a braided one.
im having trouble getting my project wired and need halp.
i used this schematic, and it only has 2 wires coming out of the pickups, while the actual pickups have 3.
WUT DO I DOOOOO

If the braided wire is braided around the red and white wires, ground it.

Otherwise, take a meter and test the resistance between wire pairs: red-white, red-braid, and white-braid. (Be sure the pickup is not connected to anything while doing this.) What do you get?

You might get a brighter sound without the resistor, and your volume pot might taper things off differently.

the resistor isn't necessary, but i haven't noticed any change in tone with it on.
