My Black Jazzmaster project....Pics

Post by RumorsOFsurF »

I picked up a used CIJ body off an Offset member, so I decided to build a Partsmaster....

Specs:

AVRI pickups, no rhythm circuit
AVRI trem
Allparts pickguard
I cannibalized my MIM Strat neck for now....

All under $500!

The AVRI trem doesn't fit worth a shit in the CIJ body for some reason. I didn't have any problems with my other CIJ when I installed the AVRI unit in it. The routing is too small, so the trem-lock won't go all the way forward, and the front of the trem scrapes on the front of the route. It isn't really functional. I have to route it a little I guess. Lame.

The beginning:

Some shitty indoor pics....I'll get some outdoor shots tomorrow. I started at 5:30, and it's now 10:30 and dark.

Yeah, I like that. Didn't think I would like it with a Maple neck, but it works.

Thanks!

The maple fretboard is temporary until I find a suitable replacement. I had a line on an MIJ Squier Strat neck with black headstock, but the deal fell through. I'll probably go with an Allparts neck, just because they're cheap, and the quality seems to be good.

If you get the Allparts neck and need a decal I think I have one. If you want it just PM your addy.

I love the black and red. That would work if the MIM neck had the black inlays. You could use electrical tape for now.

What is the black stuff made of? What's around those pickups?

Oh fuck yea, black block inlay and binding!

It's looks great with out it, though.

I did a little dremel routing on the tremolo cavity, and everything works fine now. Definitely not something I like doing, but it works.

I need to setup the bridge now, as the Strat neck is 9.5" radius, and the high and low E's are buzz city....

I took some outdoor pics as well:

Looking even better in natural lighting.

I'll concur, it's a surprisingly charming color combo w/that maple neck.

The maple neck is starting to grow on me....I'll swap it eventually, likely for rosewood, but my Strat needs its neck back at some point!

I know Strats aren't too popular around here, but I got a thing for Black Strats with black pickguards and large headstock maple necks I think they look hot.
