Chorus Pedals

Post by nomorebridge »

Do any of you use a chorus pedal.... I'm looking for a kind of ambient dream pop shoegazey thing, not cheesey Sting style stuff, anyone got any pointers?

There is only one Chorus pedal; the Electro-Harmonix Small Clone.

My next project will be to build one with a Depth knob instead of a switch.

for something different than the usual chorus pedal maybe check out one of those fulltones (choralflange or something ?) they're not really cheap but i think it would be a good pedal for shoegazey kinda stuff

I found the Small Clone to obvious and thin personally, Boss Ce-3 or Boss CH-1 because you can run them in stereo.

Heresy.

It's odd you would say "thin", I've found the clone to be one of the fattest warmest choruses I have ever played. You weren't using that Nano Shite were you?

the Maxx CH-40 chorus (also branded as Maxtone and Rockson) is my favourite pedal I own, excellent for some Cocteau Twins style sounds

for some ideas.

but there are other great chorus pedals namely the Boss Ce-1 and the original EHX Clone Theory which has a fantastic tone if you get the right version.

AnalogMan chorus for me. I strayed away from it for a short while, but now it's my favourite yet again.

I had a Boss CH-1 and a CE-1, now I have a Marshall univibe. I don't really like chorus...well at least I haven't found one a like yet.

i've dabbled in chorus pedals in the past. i used to use a boss CE-5, which was passable, but never very in inspiring. The CE-1 mode of my CE-20 was my favorite until i was fed up of it taking up too much space. i've been meaning to get that CE-2 off stewart, which i will sort out this month.

I’ve been told it’s an identical copy of the CE-2, but I’ve never been able to get hold of one to compare.

I have a Boss CE-3 that I would be willing to sale if anyone is interested in it. It is a green label boss pedal that can be ran in stereo.

really don't know. i think they used a few different ones over the course of their duration. they probably used a rack-mount too cuz most of those shoegaze bands did i think.
i found this interview with Guthrie: http://www.cocteautwins.com/html/media/ ... may96.html he says he used a harmonizer to create chorus effects.
