I've turned it into a Doogmaster
The Wesley Jag i bought to modify has gone through some Fran Treatment today. I scored some Epiphone LP Goldtop Soapbars off 'bay to fit in this thing. I spoke to Doog for some advice on dimensions and it turns out no new guard was needed.
I've kept the single pup in the middle for extra sonic options, although it does need a cream cover to make the whole thing uniform.
Upon taking the Wesley apart i knew i'd have to route the body besides cutting the pickguard
Routing revealed a decent alder body, not bad for a £80 guitar
I cut the pup holes using a coping saw
Wiring the Soapbars in was a bit of a pain, they have three wire: red, black, ground. On the SD website the stacked Soapbars have the same ammount of wires. You connect the red/black together for the hot, but this did'nt work on these Epiphone pups. I had to solder two to ground and one hot.
I think it looks good except for the white single pup cover. It sounds awesome, i'll sort a demo soon when i replace what strings have survived today. Im really happy with it.
See what you think..

Thanks guys.
I've totally knocked the idea of building guitars on the head, its a false economy. Theres pretty much most designs out there to be had for peanuts that you may as well just modify to your tastes. A piece of Alder alone would have set me back £40. And i could never dream of achieving that finish myself, not without proper air guns.
Companies like Shine, Wesley, Worship, Stagg have most things covered. Even Aria do a cheap Mosrite copy (of all things). Cheap imports FTW imo.
