Bring back the starcaster petition

Post by lorez »

Found this in the letters of the latest Guitarists magazine, it's a petition to try and bring back the 70s starcaster LANK

That's an awful letter, and the guy doesn't seem to have much of a clue about anything.

If Fender reissue the starcaster it will cost £3000 anyway

It's a stupid idea, because it was a ridiculous flop and the pickups are the Unique Selling Point, and Fender is already Reissuing them in a non accurate way already, which people would moan about in the hypothetical reissue.

It will never happen, it's not like the '72 Telecaster Deluxe/Custom stuff where everyone was playing them and it's simple to just route a Telecaster body differently and slap a Strat neck on it. They're not going to retool this stuff.

It'd at least be cool to see the Custom Shop come out with one but it would be more expensive than the Vintage ones.

Why?

Are you genuinely interested in anything the Custom Shop does? I'm not. It's generally the least tasteful, most gaudy example of Fender product available.

It's a bolt on semi-hollow. If you're going to drop that kind of money on something, get a proper guitar like a 335 and install original widerangers.

In fairness, I'm kind of surprised that the custom shop don't offer the Starcaster. I sort of think they ought to, even though I'd never pay for them to make one, and I suppose I'm unsure if anyone else would pay either.

a starcaster is way better than a 335 in my book. oh noes it has a bolt-on maple neck. you mean it won't break when I drop it?

don't care if they reissue it or not. as they would just fuck it up anyway and if I really want one I'd just get a vintage one.

shit's hot though...

The binding/trim makes it look junky. It's like ,hey no one will realize the rest of this guitar looks so junky if we throw some white/pearloid trim on it

I'd rather see a Squier Jaguar/Jazzmaster first.

In talking to a Custom Shop luthier last year, Rochelle and me asked about the Starcaster and its pretty much what you expect. They can't justify it as it wouldn't be popular for the price it would be. You'd be better off buying a Vintage.

They may be ugly, but Starcasters are incredible guitars.

Spelling mistakes, grammar mistakes, far too informal, badly structured, etc etc...
