Belew doesn't just make noises, he's not some wanky noise-for-the-sake-of-noise guy- the dude ACTUALLY has chops and has written some very musical stuff over the years; he just also happens to have a very creative approach towards the guitar.

My 2 favorite albums he is on is Frank Zappa's "Sheik Yerbouti" and King Crimsons "Discipline". How much of the stuff he contributed on the Zappa album I dont know considering Frank wrote most of his music and just had others play the parts but I am sure he had a good deal to do with the Discipline album.

Quite the resurrection, but saw this on my travels, and thought it would fit well on this thread:

My two fav guitarists in one thread, bliss!

I still have Belew's instructional video on VHS somewhere in the attic. It's way out of date but still a good watch to get ideas.

I love that video of bill frisell, he's really musical even though he uses such extreme effects.

Meh. Not as intuitive as I thought it was going to be. Putting a Freeze through the DL4 looper in half time, doubling the time to change the pitch etc. is stuff I was expecting.
