I'd dig it if it was a 3/3 Flying V headstock

I absolutely love these guitars. Not sure I could justify Vintage Fender Money on something so silly though.

I played Nicks swinger which he kindly brought over. Hands down the most comfortable and playable guitar to play on a couch. I'd love one but the price is too rich for me.

Then build you one. "Cooterfinger" did using a Squier mini-strat neck and the body template is posted over on "Projects"

Why does "The Vintage Guitar Price Guide" list these guitars under the heading "Musiclander"? Warmoth also calls this body style "Musiclander". Where did this name come from? Did Fender ever use that name for these guitars? Did Fender originally call these guitars "Musiclander" before they decided to add the "Swinger" Stickers?

Aye that's a possibility but depends if that neck is as slinky as the vintage. Classic vintage fender neck is teh sex

There's currently 2 Swingers on ebay. Personally I think there must have been more than 300 made because they pop on ebay too often to be that rare. Starcasters were made for several years so I'm sure there's more of them than Swingers, but they seem to be on ebay less often. Maybe Swingers just change ownership frequently?

Arrow and Musiclander are two names the Swinger is sometimes referred to by, but they were never called either one by Fender. I can't give you the origins of those names - I'm not sure what they are... but the official name is "Swinger," and that was applied via a decal (OVER the finish) on the headstocks of most (if not all) of them. The headstock Fender logo is under the finish, which is why it survives... but the Swinger decal was applied over the headstock finish, and is known for flaking off... leaving only the Fender logo remaining.

I think they have their charm... I don't mind the way they look but for the price they go for I'd much rather have something else...
apparently kweller doesn't just use it live, he used the swinger for the bulk of the guitar work on his latest self-titled album..

It's not a fake. Some bodies lack the Bass V routing.

Love the swinger. Relatively rare but seemingly always command a lot of money.
