My first build.

Post by karmataburn »

I finally finished my first build. I ordered the body from Warmoth and threw a Jaguar neck on it. I put a Tv Jones classic as the neck pickup and a Powertron at the bridge. I am so happy with the way it turned out. A friend had a green metal flake strat when I was a kid and my entire life I have wanted a guitar this color. I was nervous that the color would be over the top and ruin the look of this guitar but I love it. I have not stopped playing it for the past 2 days!!

I had Warmoth finish it. But this is pretty addictive. I have bee looking at bodies all night and I think I may finish the next one myself. From what I read metal flake can be tough so I am thinking a basic red for my first attempt.

I had Warmoth shoot the paint. I was thinking of doing it my self, but after reading about spraying metal flake I realized it would come out better if I let a pro handle it.

Here is the neck and body when I first got them.

Here is my 1st attempt at wiring. I went back and cleaned everything up after I was sure it was going to work. I am going to change out the 3 way switches to ones that are threaded. I do not like having to use those nuts to hold them on, also I think I want white switches.

Looks like a dream from the forest. Or something.

How much for the whole guitar, all in all? :)

Lol put it this way I could have bought a pretty nice genuine fender mustang for what this ended up costing. The thing that got me is how much necks cost. Anyways it was worth every penny to own something that I put together and picked every single part.
