I have a JB Jr from dots in the bridge of my Jag and I love it. I like the sound of their QP Jag pups also. When one day I ever manage to fucking build my Mustang I'm going with QP pickups in it.

To be honest, I thought that the jb jr. that cowbell had in his bronco sounded pretty bland and boring. But the Screamin demon in his mustang sounded amazing! the duckbucker in robroe's videos sounds pretty good too. I have a SD distortion humbucker in my MIA strat and it sounds really good to me, and despite the fact that pretty much everybody in the world hates it, I love the Invader in my tom delonge strat and the one that my friend put in his tele.

I have not put a DiMarzwhatever IN my guitar to do a direct comparison but I HAVE played guitars at shops with them. Wasn't terribly impressed with it, though I'm not a total snob about them. Pups are pups to me, as long as they sound good in that certain guitar. The only time I think about them is if the one in the guitar currently sounds bad, like the bridge pup in my Jag. I just really like the sound of the QP for Jag and if I built a guitar from scratch I'd put those in.

they sound like a sneeze. honky and distorted, and kind of jarring when you aren't expecting it.

DiMarzio makes a Eric Johnson signature Filtertron copy, which is going to replace the scumbag JB in my SGuar.

so you're saying you've been tone deaf until just now? you used to rave about the SGuar to no end, now it seems, being an older epi g-400 with a really fucking terrible pickup, that it can't possibly be any good whatsoever?

I used the neck pickup - a DiMarzio, and the JB coil-split to milk at least some semblance of treble out of that awful pickup.

And I'll be the first to admit that I bought the JB for the Kurdtz power. After that wore off, I was left with a crappy mid-range mess.

Nooooo. I really like how the stock CIJ neck puppy compliments it.

.
You're lucky. My CIJ neck pickup sounded like a tin lunchbox full of nails in a box of shit.
