haha.. PIMP!

They look immense mate, congrats on spreading the workload also. Haven't you got your bro drilling cases and all? Soon you'll just need to throw fish guts at the pair of them every two days.

Ha! Well the proceeds are going towards our house (pokey flat) fund so she'll see some benefit in the long run.

Tom, my 14 year old brother, has been drilling PCBs and learning to solder. Least I could do as they outsourced his paper round! Actually it's good as it gives us something to talk about, and he's just getting into music/bands etc. Only I drill the cases, as it's a pain in the ass and I'm a terrible stickler for having all the holes accurate.

You should put "handmade family business" somewhere in your site, that's how personal it can get for pedal makers, i'm sure boutique guys would love it

I reworked my boosted companion fuzz layout, removing the tone 'scoop' in the original and substituting a big muff tone control. Gonna start offering this fuzz as an option in the Unpleasant Companion enclosure once I've tested/demo'd the thing. The vintage correct, but somewhat ineffective tone control is something that's bugged me about the FY-2 for a while.

This layout took ages!

Pedal sounds ace but get that printed on a shirt and I'll buy it.

speaking of out of the ordinary bypass circuits.... just noticed this on the frantone website:
Frantone effects use a unique active true bypass audio switching circuit that is designed to stay in bypass mode if the applied power is less than 7 volts. The LED can light with as little as 3 volts supplied, so it may remain lit in this case. The benefit of this circuit is that if your battery or power supply falls bellow operational levels while playing the audio chain is not interrupted. There is nothing worse during a performance than stomping on a pedal and getting your signal muted!

Hot stuff! There's also some interesting developments with electronic switches online. I'm gonna try these at some point:

My FY-2 solution, in classic booootweaker style, is this:

Image

Here's my first completed board. It sounds really pretty interesting. The nastiness of the FY-2 is still in there, but the range of tones is massive, and the volume is well, loud.

I felt my wallet give a little quiver i my pocket as I read that post. Too early for me to call dibs on the prototype in a plain box?

No chance of the fuzz control outside the box?

Yep it is- the controls are tone and vol. The trimmer is the weird mid-tone of the stock fy-2 schematic.

Willin's Muff fuzz with klon buffer. Built on padboard.

Any chance of a demo of the silicon fuzz face?

No chance, I'm afraid. There's quite a lot of silicon fuzzface demos on youtube and this ones sounds just like them. It's a one-off, because if someone wants a simple pedal in a plain enclosure for £60 I cannot say no :D
