I always thought the headstocks were similar, but isn't the starcaster's headstock fatter? What are you talking about shaving? If you find a blazer neck they're even closer

Edit:had forgotten what a starcaster headstock looks like, I see the carve you were referring to.

I'll probably just use a mustang neck. I'm not going for an EXACT replica, just a starcaster look. I'm not doing an arch top body or a hardtail bridge either.

I hate to speak for cooter but surely if you got a blank headstock he could do the shape without too much hassel. I mean, a stang neck will sell for a decent buck on ebay and would probably cover most. It's just one of those small details but it really is one of the biggest features of the guitar.

It's more work than I want. And more money that I have to spend. I'm getting that car completely repainted too so that's another $5k or so, for what I want. Once I finish this, the univox, and the poorly modified mustang, I won't be doing any guitar projects for a longgggg time. Unless someone has me build them something.

Plus. I am building a bolt on neck guitar not a set neck. If I have money down the line and the urge to change the neck, ill have Rhoney build me a neck.

I just pm'd the guy. I told him I'd pay for it if he doesn't hear from punkac in the next few hours.

Update: He just pm'd me back and said someone else had asked about it ahead of me and he was waiting to hear back from them.
He did say that it wasn't punkac. He'll let me know for sure this afternoon.

Damn, that neck was a good deal, I would think it would be $5-600 for paul to build one
