Example, If you had a Boss Super Overdrive and you had an MXR Micro Amp or any kind of Booster pedal behind it, could you use the booster as a gain boost?
I'm not really familiar with booster pedals...

Booster -> Overdrive/Distortion = Gain Boost
Overdrive/Distortion -> Booster = Volume Boost and potential gain addition from overdriving the preamp of your amplifier.
An SD-1 can be used as a Booster if you keep the Gain at minimum and push up the level. It will add a chunk of midrange content though.

Depends on the pedals, but you should be pretty happy.
What booster are you thinking of buying - there's a whole lot on the market and for a simple circuit some are very overpriced.
What amplifier are you using and what sound are you going for? You may be better getting a more gainy pedal in the first place. The SD-1 is very tubescreamerish (it's a slight variation on the design, pretty much a clone), so it's got a fair midrange hump and a basscut when you wind up the Gain.
The Boss OD-3 while more expensive has a flatter response and a better bass retention.

And I'm going more more of a White Stripes/Indie/Blues sound.
