Tell that to the people that wanted to sell them to me. I ended up swapping them for an old pickup without a wire.
But your right dots, I've seen ebay listing for vintage Fender screws for as much as $26!
My goal at the time was to restore it with the exception of the bridge humbucker.
Its taking to long, and is not worth the money.
And to prove my point, some prick just listed the parts '64 Jaguar. It WAS in nice condition before he ripped it apart.
Heres one of the listings-

i don't know. if i had a '59 strat missing just one screw. i would consider buying a vintage screw.
but then again, i've got a big bag of nasty, rusted pickguard screws at home that i've pulled out of guitars over the years. so i wouldn't have to buy one.

$20 for a screw is ridiculous. but if you're only $20 away from making a $30000 guitar original, it's worth it in my opinion.

but in all reality, how likely is a $30,000 relic to be one ancient screw short of perfection?

The Cow palace was opened in 1941! It has a huge amount of entertainment history. That fucking sucks!

I truly hope that the Palace is spared.

Oh, check this out. YouTube has footage from everyone from the Beatles to Nirvana playing the Cow Palace.

Mike wrote:I like rod and his collection of Mustangs and that, but having like 7 guitars that you replace all the electrics and stuff to all sound the same is pretty west.
i can see both sides to that equation. if you've got a sound and electronics setup that allows you to get the tones you want for the music you play, there is something to be said for reliability. i wouldn't have all the guitars in a large collection sounding the same, but 3 or 4 would keep things interesting at shows.

plus -- and as always when it comes to rod -- HE HAS GUNSTANG.
The best way for me to explain it is this. I buy the same guitar over and over. If I wanted a different sound out of various guitars, they wouldn't all be the same model. It is nice for me to grab any guitar off the rack and feel completly comfortable with it. The colection has turned absurd at this point because when I play a show I only bring 2 guitars and it's the same 2 every time.
I'm buying another this weekend too. It has become a sickness at this point.

You're making it harder for people that haven't even got one vintage Shortscale to pick one up also. I think that's pretty lame, you've admitted yourself you're not playing them - why are you buying them?
