behelen lacquer

Post by robert(original) »

I know dgner8 has used this stuff with great results but when i ordered my stuff the spray was off and made robs neck into a sticky mess, and during that time i got some liqued for repairs and what not, well i used some about 2 weeks ago for an ovation re-fret.(i put two scratches on eithere side of the top)
so i proceeded to drol fill like i hadbeen taught and done2-3 times before.
it looked great going out the door and even the customer could not tell.
well about a week ago(maybe more)
he gave me a call saying it had "bubbled" and i immediately thought "oh shit, its that behelen crap acting weird again.
shure enough it was acting the same way robs neck was, except in a larger scale.
so this is a pictorial edition of drop filling.
this is a random shot of the guitar itself, notice the "bubble" around the scratch.

here is it sanded smooth and level out.

here is after the first buff,
it sort of sucks cuz the lacquer is more shiny and has more depth than the crappy acrylic poly that ovation uses(worthless fucking kaman company)

so the moral of the story,
don't ever buy an ovation and expect any actual quality, nor any sort of tone, these things are dead sounding, no matter what.
and its worth the extra few bux for mcfadden leacquer from LMI.
