Without chambers Les Pauls are heavy
Not quite. The custom shop reissues are not heavy at all, and aren't chambered. Most other Les Pauls need chambering to be a reasonable weight.

I had a mahogany les paul junior copy and it was one of the lightest guitars - both the body and neck wood was super lightweight. My other mahogany guitars had some serious weight to them

Yeah my Junior is a featherweight in comparison.

You have to play heavy riffs to get the heavy out.

I dig gold tops as well, though if I was going to Gibson, I’d probably end up with a LP Jr. or SG.

Yeah, I keep thinking the LP Jr. is about 5 guitar builds down the line.

What kind was it?

I think maybe necks that have shorter scale lengths are light. I weighed a Jag neck once and it was something like 0.25 lb. or something like that, even though it's maple. I think a full scale Fender neck weighs almost a pound.

It was a kit I bought from BYO guitar 11-12 years ago.

It all depends on wood. I had different full scale Fender style guitars and all the maple necks weighed differently. Some where super light with tuners on, others weighed almost as much without tuners. I've had several mahogany LP type guitars and they all weighed differently. My buddy and I had two guitars of the same model and mine was significantly lighter. I've bought mahogany and maple neck blanks to make necks, they all varied in weight. The lightest were two sugar white maple blanks with a beautiful grain which I completely screwed up and I sometimes lie in bed thinking what the hell I was doing, those were the best pieces of wood I have ever seen. The heaviest was a mahogany blank, roughly the same dimensions as the maple ones but heavy as a brick

A Wilkinson bridge I see. How does it compare to the badass style one?

+1

The amps too. That whole room could be X-rated.

While Noirie's guitars are presumably ALREADY illegal here.

These Harley Benton DC Juniors seem to be so outrageously good for the price and people are becoming so aware of it that I'm afraid Gibson will go after Harley Benton and force them to change the design of the body into something ugly. Those who want one should probably buy it now

Get one they’re fucking great. I swapped out the bridge cause it looked and played shite. Added a shim to the pickup too cause it’s super low otherwise.

I'm still toying with the idea of building one, I even got a sheet of plexiglass to make a template. In 10 years time it'll be all done and finished.

Nice set up on yours. I had a Badass bridge on my Junior clone for a short time, it was weirdly tall and awkward and the action was super tall. I still have the bridge, will probably use it in the build and try to compensate the height with the correct neck angle.

What did you use to shim the pickup?
