Shortscale Guitar Dressing Room (feat DanHeron)

Post by Mike »

DanHeron has knocked up his own Mustang dressing room, look at how ace it is:

Image

I am of the opinion that this is awesome.
I am also of the opinion that he should hook up with Robroe to get the Fender colours in HTML format codes sorted for this thing, and that we should expand it to all Fender guitars. People can contribute knobs, pickups etc.

We Will Have The Best Dressing Room Applet EVAR.

Are you In?

DanHeron is new poster from Manchester. See the chatter in the Whorehouse banner thread:
http://www.shortscale.org/forum/viewtop ... 629#449629

A dressing room applet is a little gizmo that allows you to mock up a guitar of your choice with the colour, pickup config, bridge, trem, switches, knobs, fretboard and headstock of your choice.

offsetguitars.com have one for Jags/Jazzys. We could have a more complete example.

If you're HTML savvy you could come up with some HTML code colour translations of colours from the Fender Colour Chart, or small clip art images of various knobs (strat, tele, witchhat, les paul etc) or pickups (single, hotrails, single-sized bucker, p90s, various buckers)... stuff like that I guess. We really need Dan's input on what would be useful to him.

I think robroe should get all over this too, noone is more passionate about guitars.

Right, a while ago I created a small flash App for designing a Mustang. It wasnt that detailed but you could change colour, add comp stripes, drag'n'drop different pickups and change the neck/pickguard colour. I'm going to put it up when I'm on my own PC (at college atm).

The mustang image in the banner is from a screenshot of the App.

What I'm saying is now I have done all the coding fro drag'n'dropping items, changing colours etc Its really easy to add new stuff like new colours, and new items.
So I would be happy to make new App's with a range of Shortscale guitars. And also add in new things like a choice of bridges, inlays, etc.

Just tell me what you would like added and I will get to work! I love excuses to spend time on flash :D

I think guys like Rob and Jcyphe and James and Hurb and others are going to be the real great contributors of ideas for this thing in the way of colours and parts, James has photoshop skills aswell.

I should be able to help out with some photshopping malarkey.

Do you just need images for stuff with transparent backgrounds (PNGs)? I haven't used flash since I was at college and I'm a bit rusty on it.

getting the colours should be fairly easy.
just take a screenshot of robs charts and mouse over them with the color dropper and you can get THE CODEZ.

OK, so here is my original Mustang designer thing!
Looking back at it is pretty embarrassing, it isn't anywhere near as detailed as some of the guitar builders on the net.

But that's all going to change!

I'm going to add loads more colours, with their Fender labels eg "Dakota Red, LP Blue"
Also I will add more realistic stripe colours. For some reason I chose a random set of colours for them.
And then more parts will be added etc etc until every visible part of the guitar is changeable.

And then I will do it all again with a new guitar model.

:)

OK WHERE CAN I UPLOAD A .SWF FILE ? PHOTO BUCKET WONT LET ME ANYMORE :x

I cant upload the flash file at the minute, so I will show these screen shots!

This is the original, rather bad looking design:
Image

This is the new one I have started. It should look a lot smarter than the old one, and will eventually have tons more stuff.
Image

**the bad quality is because of the uploader I used.
