cleaning acoustic pre-amp

i got a mid 80's fender gemini(it would scream robroe if it were blue)
but basically the electronics that are in it are dirty, its an lr. baggs system from 95, pretty nice looking, and i think i can get to work as long as i get a new battery compartment for it,
but basically here is my query for the electrical guys and gals here.
rubbing alcohol, or is there something better.
i really just want to clean stuff up a bit.
i have always used rubbing alcohol and duster, but i wanted to see if there was something better i could be using.
