Post by Haze »

So yeah, post your #1 guitar, you're Go-To, your "baby", however you want to put it
Just a pic, how its gotten where it is now, and why you love it so much should do. Feel free for mushy long stories aswell.

Lets see yours, shortscale!

Even if its a shortscale instrument, i just figured All Other Guitars would be the better fit for something like this.

Fender AVRI '62 Jazzmaster.
► Show Spoiler
According to the neck, it was made sometime around October 17, 2007. I bought it in the summer of 2008. The only modification I have done to it was installing a Master Bridge, which made the guitar a lot easier to set up and play. Also changed the tone a little bit. I currently have it setup with 11 gauge roundwounds.

It was on sale for $1200 because there was a small inconspicuous dent that didn't even go through the wood on the back of the body when I bought it. Otherwise it was completely new.

I've always loved Jazzmasters, plenty of my favorite bands use them and to get that bell-like tone these seem to be the only guitars that can do it. Sounds wonderful through just about any amp I've played it through. It takes fuzz and mild disortion pretty well, although I play clean the majority of the time, with maybe a touch of reverb.

I love all types of guitars, but I think this will always be my number one even if I get other things later. (A Casino/ES330 or other P90 guitar is on my horizon possibly..)

This was a burnt Squier Strat I got on the bay for really cheap.I filled in all the unnecessary shitholes and made my own.Put a hardtail on it.Chilseled out a big hole and stuck that old WR (that was in my old mustang when I bought it) in it.This fucker plays so nice.

MIM 50s classic with MIM standard bridge. it's a 2001. which means I walked by it a number of times before I bought it. Thankfully it waited patiently in the store for me. haha, it looks liek the output jack pooped.

My current "go-to" guitar:

Image
It's an SX Strat with all the stock electronics (will probably swap out for GFS pickups when I can afford to). It has my sanded down 24" Jagmaster II neck on it, hands down the best neck I've ever felt on a guitar. That Jagmaster (now Jimmy's Jagmaster) was my first electric guitar back in 2004. It's seen a lot of loving. :)

Image
Sitting next to that strat is my old #1 for gigging, a 2006 Squier Affinity Telecaster. The neck was sanded down and lovingly played rigorously for years. The pickguard has quite the FDP/Shortscale legacy. Thanks, Shad! :D

The neck pickup is a dummy, there's a GFS Cool Vintage Rails in the bridge. I put a kill switch in replace of one knob and the input jack in the other's place. I installed the Bigsby soon after buying the guitar. It's a heavy ass telecaster, but it sounds great. :D

My first left handed MIJ Fender Mustang, according to the dating of the Serial num it's a 93. The story of how it became mine is a little, lame (bought it on eBay), but at the time it happened right as my band started to really form together. I received the guitar in the mail right on the day my drummer got his own personally drumset. (he had been borrowing a friends). But here is the evolution of my go-to guitar. I've nicknamed this guitar S.o.B. , mainly to due with the fact it's Sonic Blue, but also this guitar has taken some beatings.

F'in love this guitar... it has its probs but I think that's part of its charm, and getting past those flaws ... you will be better for it.

Despite owning a 61 Jazzy, the Jag was always the guitar I lusted after... and because its affordable & not precious, I have much fun in modding it and leaving it about the home... it's my go to indeed :) It's been left out continuously for about 2 years... seeing it on a daily basis... still feel like rubbing one off when I walk by...

My 2007 Danelectro 59DC, I got it in 2007 when they came out, a friend showed me them and I instantly fell in love with the look, i had to have one, 4 months later I was ordering my very own dano. At the time my dad still lived with us, he had a lot of guitars. I would mainly play his guitars because he always just played the piano. We had a Fender american strat, a gibson firebird 5, and I myself had a gibson les paul jr. The danelectro got put aside for about a year because I liked the bigger sound of the strat and the Les paul JR. In August of last year my mom kicked my dad out of the house and they filed for divorce because he was taking away all of our family money to fund his heroine addiction that I had no idea about. So with him went all his stuff, and stuff that wasn't his, such as the les paul jr. I was left with just the Danelectro, he even took the cyber twin that we had both went in on together. So i needed an amp. I went down to the pawn shop I thought he would go to and there was all of the stuff. I bought back the Cyber Twin in December. Now i needed a stronger guitar, the low output of the Dano wasn't going to be enough to get the sounds i wanted. My favorite sound was the Les Paul JR's single gibson P90, So i went out and got that very pickup and had it put into the Danelectro. The guitar is my own special take on something, and was essentially upgraded out of desperation, It means a lot to me and now it had truly become my favorite guitar.

that's the story, now here's some pictures. It now has strap locks too.

I'm still not comfortable with guitar. I used to be, then after quitting for a few years I've never fully got back into it. I had an evening recently where I felt at home playing my Ibanez Melody Maker but it's still not the one for me and it's still on the chopping block. Which means that my number one (for guitar, my real number one is my Jazz Bass) is this...

Ya'll shouldn't even have to ask. It's a '57 Dano U1; I bought it on eBay last year from a guy in Minnesota. It was converted to a bass at some point, hence the 3 holes behind the bridge. It also had a super-rare large Lucite Silvertone pickguard, hence 4 other holes in the top. The finish wear is all really nice: by the arm, underside of the neck, and a lot wear it rests or yr lap. I had it signed by Honeyboy Edwards last February for major Mojo. I also tuck little keepsakes and such inside the body. High action, but it plays well with 11 flats and works great for fingerstyle.

She's sort-of named Charlyn
