New Geetar Day - Strat

Just picked up a new blue strat. The paint looks sort of metallic in the light, but it doesn't show in the photos. Anyways, I had it for maaaaaybe 10 minutes before I joyfully ripped it open and started tinkering with it. Just minor aesthetic things for now: pup covers, knobs(getting new ones tomorrow though). I'll be adding fat ass stripes on it within a few days. Pretty excited about that. I swear, I can't leave guitars in one piece for more than ten minutes. I had just barely gotten it home before I whipped out my trusty screwdriver.

New strings, too. The 9s felt like rubber bands. Got some thicker ones now, thankfully. I hate the flimsy shit.

Before minor changes:

Delicious guts:

Can't wait until I get those stripes on it....

Like it! How to avoid the strat blands with a simple change.

It's going to have some fat ass stripes coming down from the bridge soon, too. That should jazz it up a bit.

Hm, time to google what I mean....

Ah, here we go.

Like this:

Except, the thinner side stripes are going to be a bit thinner than those ones.

I like the stripes idea :) Originally I thought you meant normal comp stripes which I'm not a fan of on strats.

+1.

Not so sure about the stripes idea though. When they run through the centre it reminds me of them awful 'indie' guitars.

You have a point but if yuo're gonna stripe then I think it makes more aesthetic sense on a strat than the comp stripe (coming from a man with a comp stripe on his strat!).

Yeah, but, those diagonal ones look a little too generic and out of place for me. I somewhat like the offset center stripe, kind of like this:

Though, even that looks a bit funny. Hmm. I still prefer those fat ass stripes, to be honest. Whether it looks indie or not, doesn't overly matter to me.

Might just leave it as it is for now. Aesthetics can be messed with after I update the rest of it a bit more. Thinking of putting in new pickups. I want more of a chunky sound.... This one is a bit too smooth for my tastes. My old strat sounded like liquid honey, I swear., so I need one that's a bit more.... Well, more! I need to mix it up a bit. I want something a bit different. Man, I'm awful at explaining this.

That is.... Uhhh.... Different....

By fat ass stripes I didn't mean "humongo diver stripe". Eek. The ones I was mentioning were going to be around an inch across with hairline stripes on either side. Two of those below the bridge.

See apart from the word 'Indie' on the neck and HS I actually kinda like it. Indie is a shit name for a guitar brand. Shit.

Looks good. The black pickup covers, knobs and switch tip are a massive improvement over the white.

DO NOT WANT stripes on anything other than Competition Mustangs.

Stripes are being put on hold for the moment. I was toying with the idea of putting the pickguard from my old strat on it. It's got more of a creamy aged look, whereas this one is bright white.

Opinions? Any other improvements/suggestions for anything on it?

Hate the idea of stripes, however I love the black knobs/selector switch tip/pickup covers against the white pickguard.

That'd look spiffy on my older strat. I already have a set of white covers and a set of cream covers that would work, I'd just need to find a black guard.
