Owen Peter Thomas - Music

Post by othomas2 »

Just joined Soundcloud and uploaded there, rather than the usual myspace.

Tried to rock a little more than I usually do... Comments welcome.

EDIT: Sitting on the backbone is the song !! (all my other tracks now there too)

I want to be in a transatlantic internet band with you.

How's that for a constructive comment?

Thanks guys, really appreciate the feedback... And positive feedback at that !! :D

It's not the usual for me, but trying to adventure out of the 'cure for insomnia' territory I always find myself in, however cheesy it might get.

Thanks again !!!

I find myself torn between shoegazer type territory and balls out grungy rock and have difficulty getting a balance between the two. I think as its just for me at the moment I don't care and just have fun.

Also, is that you on everything there then? Guitars, drums, etc?

Dig it! Sounds like autowah and some autotune on the first/left vocal?

Nice mix too; I think if you knocked some low-end off that second vocal it'd be pretty much poifect.

Love the chorus, dig the mix. Computer programmed drums? They sound good and work well with the song. Great guitar sounds, too.

Yeah, it's me on everything apart from the comp drums. I'm pleased people like the guitar sounds, I've had compliments elsewhere about that too so it's nice to hear. It's where I've spent most my energy over the last few years trying to perfect, so I'm pleased.

The vocals are rife with effects... Garageband's own 'megaphone' effect and then usually auto tuned to the max... I kinda like it but rely on it too much. I could do with some new recording mics, the vocals have been an on going issue with clipping and so on and I end up trying to make do with what I have.

As with all my tracks I will revisit them eventually and enhance them further if possible, so will take note of that doog.

cheers again !!

Great stuff, man. Catchy melody, simple and effective arrangement, and I while I'm not usually a fan of over-the-top vocal effects, it really fits in well here when layered with your "normal" voice.

Unrelated to this tune, I still have a song of yours I think I pulled from MySpace some years ago titled "Killjoy". I absolutely love that song and recording.

Another new one, still needs more to it, solo and a final refining at a later date... but you get the gist.

It's very basic punk / pop. Any comments, god or bad welcome.

This is like saccharine catchy - could do with a bridge or middle 8 to break things up, but it's a delightful little tune. Could be in a MONTAGE that one.
