definitely makes a difference. whether you like them fatter or skinnier is a matter of preference but since the trend these days is definitely towards skinnier strings I would say it's generally good advice to tell someone to experiment with fatter string. definitely.

play the guitar with the back plate on and off. Eric Johnson says having it off gives more gain. Honestly.

Iommi & Billy Gibbons never seemed to have bad tonez and look how light they have their strings, I think billy gibbons just brought out some signature strings that are based on 7s and iommi was down tuning with 8s!

yeah, there was a good video of gibbon's tech going through his tour rig and he had 7's.

I would be interested in their tips to get a worse tone. I think the tone i chase after would be considered bad to them. I like dirty and filthy fuzzy sounds but not too muddy. I don't play clean much anyhow...
