Hey y'all. I got the Kustom a while back but I wanted to save up for a better post. Anyway, here we go.

I managed to blow 3 of the speakers in my Marshall valvestate 412 cab somehow, (with the original head no less, WTF?). I was originally gonna get a new cab to put them in anyway and this 70's Peavey musician cab popped up for 50$ on craigslist unloaded. I ended up finding a decent deal on 3 Celestion g12t-75's for 150$ all together and when I went to get them the guy threw in a 4th one with a small rip for free! I patched it up with tissues and watered down elmer's glue and it works like a charm.

The Kasino PA head was a trade for my slightly modded Valve Junior head. I'm not sure of the wattage but it's loud as balls. Turns out it's a clone of a Kustom PA head and the Kasino line was put out by Kustom for marketing reasons.

The Kustom is an 80's lead cab with the original speakers and whatnot. It makes a great bass cab with that PA head. I dig it. Got it for 50$ off of a bassist on Craigslist.

The Marshall came with a matching cab for 300$ from a buddy of mine. Despite being a hybrid amp, the metal tones are pretty awesome.

So all together, through the magic people of Craigslist, I have a stereo 8x12 rig for less than 500$.

P.S., the prices are included to show the beauty of Craigslist Dealz.

That's the cab I played through when I played bass, with the matching Peavey bass amp head. In fact, it was a friends Peavey bass that I used for most of those gigs. That was some fucking trouser-flapping sounds. Loved that thing.

I just got a chance today to crank the Marshall with the Peavey cab. Even with the Celestions instead of the originals, putting the gain channel's volume on 10 and the master on 5 was wayyyyy too loud to bear in my living room. It was insane.

I think that for once the cab is making the difference rather than the speakers or anything. I notice that with smaller closed back cabs the bass is very tight but not as in-your-face as a 412, while 412's have crazy bass but usually it's "loose", for lack of a better term. Not boomy or overwhelming, but they feels "slow". This cab is oversized but the top 2 speakers are completely separated from the bottom 2 with a horizontal board in the cabinet. It's like a 412 amount of bass but extremely tight compared to the Kustom. I'll have to get some pics up.

It happens. People blow the stock speakers in combo amps all the time.
