I think mine is a Hot Rails, tho. Haven't found a reason to switch it to the JB.

BTW, you looking to sell that JB, Thom? I am looking for one.

EDIT: Shit, how do you quote reply with an image attachment? I can't figure this out.

No-one has figured it out yet. You could download the image then insert it as an attachment yourself, but that's a pain.

Well, it's a bit tricky, but I sort of figured it out. You have to do some manual work, right-click the image and copy the address, then in the reply delete the file reference, and use [ img ] tags around the URL from the other post. At least better than downloading/reattaching.

Love that comp Orange stang!

Yeah actually, the JB is just in my spares box. Not sure whether it would be cheaper in the US once you factor in shipping but I’ll have a look at sold prices here and reply to your classifieds post which I just saw.

My early -64 mahogany red Musicmaster, one of the alder/poplar bodies on which they used up paint that was to be used in the -63 mahogany-bodied strats and teles.

Looks alder through the paint, but is quite light in worn spots so could be the most probable poplar too.

It’s nice. 11’s or thicker on and it plays wonderfully in tune, and one can still bend like a Buddy Guy.

-71 Musicmaster. Has been refinished several times, now back to it’s original fast yellowing white.

~1962 Silvertone 1448. Pickup, bridge, tuners replaced. Knobs were missing too, but pots and wiring seems original. Pickup is very low output and sounds close to originals. Bridge is allparts, similar to original. Tuners are $4.99 kluson copies from ebay, flimsy but do the job. Also have the amp-in-case, which looks like it almost survived a hurricane.

I love the look of a 1448. It's my favourite looking guitar. A 1449 doesn't have it.

Thanks.

All finishing was stripped chemically when I got it, luckily that was done professionally and no wood is missing. Even the sealer was gone. The seller was parting it out, but I made an offer for the whole pile. The white refin is my fourth guitar paint job so it isn't great, but it's done as correctly in a early cbs way as was realistically possible for me at the time. Some sealer, acrylic oly white car paint, old stock nitrocellulose on top. Did not mess with sloppy cbs neck joint or anything, for me it's all part of it.

I'll snap more photos. It's a good guitar. Thick e string is very rubbery sounding and feeling, but haven't swapped anything yet so rubber is fine. Getting used to it. Likes thick strings. Fabulously strange original pots, they have absolutely no friction at all. Like the zenith of old lap steel pots.

-edit-
Added old photo, still fresh paint job.

I picked up one of the New Mexican Jagstangs and was amazed how much lighter it was compare to the Sherwood Green Jagstang I used to own.
