NGD - Epiphone Alleykat

Post by mkt3000 »

My work pays for my cellphone, and after the contract is over, I get to keep the old phone when they upgrade me. On Friday, I got an iPhone 5, so I cleaned up and unlocked my iPhone 4, and listed it for sale.

I listed it on the local classifieds, but I also listed it on the local FB musicians classifieds group with a bunch of other stuff I had for sale.

Yesterday, I got offered an Epiphone Alleykat as an even exchange for my phone. After checking it out, I agreed. It's got a few cosmetic issues, but nothing major. I went ahead and ordered new knobs and a new switch tip.

I was surprised how small the guitar is (it's a little bit bigger than a Les Paul), and how fast the neck is. She's a great player. For now, I'll hang on to her, and unless I fall in love with it, she'll be likely future trade bait.

The serial number places this as a June 2004, MIK.

So, yay! Another NGD :D

Very nice guitar, I have often thought about grabbing one but I already have a few hollow/semi epi's and just can't justify it. How does the neck pickup sound?

I'm starting to GAS for a (small) hollowbody. What's the nut width like on it?

Last week my Jewish boss truck was in the shop. So he got a loaner... a pickup up truck, painted plywood camper on the back, with a huge bumper sticker that said "put a Christian in the White House". I died laughing....

didn't realize those had mini-buckers in the bridge.

I got a 335 lawsuit copy from the 70s that's a hollow body. (the block only runs to the bridge, so it sounds much more like a hollow body than a semi) and it's the best sounding guitar I've ever owner. It make me wonder why I even own a solid body.

I moved the main volume knob down to the replace the mismatched knob, and put a random knob I have at home for the master volume, while my new knobs arrive. I just couldn't deal with the strat knob.

Clear and jazzy... takes distortion well without losing definition. But when I pushed it, it sounded like a scumbag :D I am considering putting a GFS retrotrons in the bridge, since the Epi 57 bucker is a bit muddy. But first... I want a Bigsby :D I'm thinking this would take a B7 + Vibramate.

1.68", nice and comfy.

In the neck. In the bridge it's got a full sized Epi 57 bucker.

So.. to bump this one up.

See this video? That's the guitar (no, not the lefty Gibby, the guitar on the right!)

I traded it with my friend Willy, who plays for this band.

Now feel free to skank away.

PAT!... This was in Vive Latino last month, sorry I didn't send you a message before the show. But maybe you saw it
