Tint Desk Gigs: WATERPHONE, Various strings, Mandolin

Post by Dave »

Just a couple of gigs with some interesting instruments. First is the sublime Shearwater, using a 'Waterphone' ("it's the sound that you hear every time something scary happens on Lost") and a couple of other interesting instruments that I have no idea what they are.

Second video is some georgous playing by four virtuosos, including some great mandolin

A bit more waterphone:

I played one a while back and loved it, then looked to see how much they cost. ZOiks.

Also, semi-feral guy in Shearwater is also the percussionist in Swans. Which isn't a contrast at all, oh no.

You mean THOR presumably? I've always assumed his appearance is entirely due to his name. Or that he really is THOR INCARNATE come to play plinky plonky instruments on this earth once more.
