I bought this Fender Electric Mandolin

For all non-guitar instruments; mandolins, synths, kazoos, and anything else musical that doesn't fit elsewhere.

Glad Fender brought that back.

The demos seem to sound quite nice, and although tremolo picking may be a bit weak, if the thing stays in tune I might think about getting one.

By the way if you want to get a better more authentic pickup for that there's a cool guy who specialises in emando pickups and other parts. He's got drop in upgrades for the more common eMandos as well as lots of custome options.

Looks great. Do an demo when you get a chance!

Could you be so kind as to give some measurements of it, especially the neck and such?

the sound as-is is not bad, actually can be dialed in very nice, though no match for an 8 string mando. maybe the pickup is a little too hot. Might try to screw it down a bit before changing it.
I will need a new nut at some point, as Fender screwed up one groove (therefore the alu snipped pictured)

I made some recordings with it, but I feel I'm not good enough yet for a standalone demo :)

what measurements you mean exactly? nut width? that fretboard is fucking tiny. once I accepted that, the neck felt pretty good. though I guess I never played above 7th fret so far ...

I have a mandocaster body rotting in my closet waiting to be completed with a neck.
The measurements I'm looking for are
the nut width
the width of the butt of the neck
the depth of the neck at the butt
the scale length
the neck pocket dimensions

If you could do this, es waere absolut hammer.

This thread's made me want an electric mando. There's a cheapo Redwood eight-string one at the Leeds branch of Dawsons according to their online store...I've half a mind to try it out just for curiosity's sake.

I have an acoustic one. Could have had it with a pickup but it was one of those "Happy Birthday, I could have got it with a pickup, I'll take it back and get one with a pickup if you really want" scenarios.

I didn't attempt doing a demo, but I used it at a Show last weekend. Not so convincing pperformance by me, but you get the idea ...
