NoHo Guitars

Post by BobArsecake »

I was searching for pics of the new Bass VI and somewhere far down the list there was a neck I recognised as a NoHo. I really like the look of them, just a shame Aug was such a half wit. I'd love that 12 string;

Wish I could have tried it out while I was over there. Wouldn't be able to trust him to have made one, if he came in soaking wet and told you it was raining, you'd need to go outside and check. Did anyone actually get one? I remember there being preliminary orders.

they did a 12-string mercury?

crazy.. I wonder who ended up with that..

when i first joined ss.o I really wanted a NoHo..

then I started reading AUG and DDDaves posts..
and I wondered exactly how they were in business..

but its nice to see one of those things again..

I just remember that I once PM'd them about making me a neck.. and the quote was like $450

needless to say, I didn't buy it.

They had interesting designs (like the malikaster body they made me) but qc was "good enough" instead of pro quality, hard to justify for the price.

I still really like the design, and neck profile aside (it's a little too flat at the back for my liking) it is a nice little guitar.
As I've said before, one day I'll get another neck for it and probably swap out the bridge pup for something hotter and then would play it more.

i ended up meeting aug. he was nice enough in person really. he is a good salesman. for sure, a smooth talker. at one point in time i would have said he was a great guy, at another point i would have said that his life was worth less than a fly. now, i don't give a shit. He took on jobs he couldnt do. i did the same thing. tho i never charged anyone for something that i knew was crap. or wasn't good enough.

i take that back, i did send out shit that i wasn't proud of, but i think with most if not all of it, it was either free, or i was as straight up as possible. the guitar i wanted to make for james would have turned out fantastic had i not gone through the back of the neck. but, it was my 2nd neck thru, and i never even finished the first one before i sold it on here as an "as is. see what you can do" sort of thing.

You also took fucking aaaaaaaaaaages making it, and were uncommunicative throughout.

The bridge placement was real wonky, yeah, but I don't remember him giving me any flack about parting it out. Cowbell fixed it up very well.

That and the current Shadmaster with the AMERICAN FACEPALM series neck is aug-memory-erasingly good, so idc
