Wheeeeeee, new squier bass vi came yesterday from GAK.

I've not really played bass before, so I'm maybe not the best equipped reviewer, but so far I like it a lot. build quality seems excellent, feels a little sturdier that the vm jag I got. That's maybe just because it's bigger and heavier though. Sounds really nice to me, but I'm running it through a guitar amp, so again not a fair appraisal of the bass toanz. Finish is really nice, can't find any flaws on it so far. Set up was pretty damn good. I normally try and drop the action on any guitar I get to as low as it goes, but I don'y suppose that's all that necessary on a bass. The D string was buzzing as it was just touching the intonation screw, but dropping that saddle one screw turn completely resolved that. Tuning seems OK(ish). I guess the stringa are new, and it's pretty fuckin hard tuning the bottom E. My snark gets wobbled into oblivion  . Haven't tried intonating yet, as I haven't spent more than an hour or two with it yet, but it certainly doesn't sound a mile off.

So far very pleased. I've wanted a bass of some description for a while. I probably wouldn't have bought a straight up bass as I wouldn't really get the use, but this may act as a bit of a bridge gapper.

Thanks guys. Very pleased so far, and genuinely really happy to have a bass. I know to many it's not strictly a bass in the traditional sense, but I'll be able to learn some funky lines this summer. Really seems like a whole lotta guitar for the money.

Sounds pretty good; similar to my Schecters through guitar amps (with new strings). That's quite promising.

You guys in the UK tend to get screwed pretty hard by gear companies, nice that you got the jump on these. Small consolation.

I am so fucking excited by these that I actually kind of want one in black so I can put a black pickguard on it, Robert Smith style (when i had my long curly hair people would say I looked like him and it got annoying for a while so now i can do this to rub it in their faces)

Very jealous and thanks for taking the time to do an demo. Like the tones you got out of it.

I really want one of these but have got to get some building work done first so am going to have to defer gear purchases for a while. Once that's done though, I will have more space to clutter up with guitars etc. Just probably won't have any cash left to buy anything.

Great stuff indeed. It looks downright smart even in black actually.

Excellent vid BTW - I really dig the 'verb and pitch bending goodness with the fuzz. How often does a bass have a reverb handle, after all? The more I think about it, the more possible uses I have for it.

I really should hate you for making me spend money a few months down the line, but I'm glad you've confirmed that I really do want one.

Nice!

What's the bridge like? As shite as the VM Jag & Jazz and in need of a Staytrem?

Or stable and usable?
