Post by Awstin »

I am literally a foot away from Jimi Hendrix's Jaguar. GOD DAMN. I'm at the hard rock hotel in Florida.

"These articles of clothing, along with this Fender Jaguar, were owned by the late, great Jimi Hendrix. Jimi wore this outfit in the summer of 1968. This Fender Jaguar was originally owned by the lead guitarist if the Rolling Stones, Brian Jones, who gave it to Jimi as a gift. After Brian's death, Jimi did not play this jaguar again."

I think it was a bigger problem to find a left handed guitar that time than now. Even McCartney with his money used to play right handed electrics.

Hendrix preferred righty guitars, thought they were better made because the makers were used to making right handers. Also on a Strat, the bridge pickup is angled the other way if you're turning it upside down (nearest the bridge on the bass strings), some think that's part of Hendrix's sound.

He doesn't appear to be enjoying it much. Some one must have hung it on him when he was super stoned.

When he was a sideman he played Jazzmasters, a white one and sunburst one, the latter of which came with him to England when The Experience was started.

Great to see Jimi with a Jaguar in pixs. Damn what a guitarist. He showed guitarist that the guitar had no limit to the sound you could make with an electric guitar. And everyone who plays guitar are still pushing boundaries further out there.

I'm trying to guess how many frets Jimi's giant hands could bridge on a shortscale...
