Anybody do modular synth?

Post by aen »

Cause I do. I realize nobody will ever read another thread about what I do, because I have to put it in the whorehouse, since I make my living on the fringes of the music industry, and the whorehouse is where threads go to die. buuuuut anyway.

Don't understand any of the applications or anything you are doing in the video but it sounds cool. Is this the direction you are taking now, more rack stuff and less pedals?

saw this on twitter and loved it. also nice to see all the other rack modules you are planning.

I wish I could get in setting up a modular system but think it would be the ruin of me financially :)

Me too but time as well as money is likely to turn into an issue.

This is a great idea. Fantasising about a battery of disgusting synth modules.

Thanks errbody!

Yeah, the cost issue is daunting, for sure, but at least companies like Pittsburgh modular are releasing small self contained systems to get started on.

Well, not especially, I'd say the number of pedals/modules in development right now are about equal. The only thing that is planned is moving Dwarfcraft weirder and streamlining Devi Ever into the money maker.

It's a lot of bang for your buck? And most of the units have really simple predictable controls. Other than that I have no idea.

Yuppp.

I got my GF a MicroBrute for her birthday because she's been messing around with my synths showing interest in synthesis. Mostly, I chose the MB because of it's excellent, straightforward interface and simplicity but secretly, I was also drawn to it's CV interfacing capabilities, with the intention of maybe using it to drive a modular setup, in the future.

Since then, I've been designing a simple twin oscillator FM/analog hybrid synth, centered around the Doepfer A-106 filter.

THIS is a pretty excellent resource, for anybody who would be considering to build a modular rig.
It gives you estimates as to the total build costs and the forums can help you with working out potential problems with your build.

Anyway, nice to see you taking a step into this crazy game, Aen!
