I just noticed for the first time there's a strap button added to the opposite horn. Thus leading me to assume someone after Jenner and before Cobain, a righty, owned this Jag.

Take a look :http://www.zikinf.com/_gfx/news/fender ... cobain.jpg

Nah, you're both wrong.

It was a Martin Jenner thing. Guess he preferred the balance this way:

& that's what fully confirmed it was Kurts Guitars for me.

See 26mins on the video.

Trollalol,

That was obviously swapped later and the only real change, hence the weird strat headstock and block-less fretboard it later had.

so what kind of neck is it then?

every other 65 1/2 jaguar neck with binding and dots has a bigger headstock than this one

Could be a generic bound neck, who knows.

He probably took one off a Kurt Cobain signature guitar.

Really want one of the Kurt Jaguar necks for my plain vanilla Jaguar now.

But £250 on Ebay :(

I've always assumed the neck on Kurt's Jag was a custom-built replacement given the weird under-lacquer decal, and agree the original neck was likely broken and replaced before he got it, maybe the reason the guitar was ditched by whoever the immediate previous owner might've been (no word on whether it was Jenner, just a video from over a decade prior when kurt was like 13 years old). Maybe the neck broke on Jenner, he ditched the guitar, some guy on the west coast made/had a neck made for it, played it a few years, and sold it to some junkshop as a true fucked-up Frankenstein with no vintage collectability whatsoever (not that Jaguars were doing super well in this regard anyway at the time) and then in walked Kurt with a DGC equipment budget and a thing for Sonic Youth/Dino Jr guitars.

Kurt's decal and headstock definitely scream "Sure I can make Fender necks, is it a Strat or a Tele?" circa '80s.

My Swinger has an under-lacquer decal; when I peeled the remaining original lacquer off, the decal stayed - except for one small spot in the F.

I don't mean just the fact that it was under lacquer is weird, though actually it is, a little. It clearly isn't a real Jag decal anyway, it's '50s Strat styled.
