Found the tuners I will be using. Hipshot HB1's! Closest thing out there (new) to what were on the originals. the length from nut to tip of headstock is 10.5" and the tuners are 1.69" long. I was worried about the peg being to big so I doubled the picture up side by side and the gap looks the same as the original and it will keep the original style without going to the gotoh bass v tuners. And I happened to FINALLY find a bass v string guide. I looked everywhere for months and one just happened to pop up on the bay tonight. Brand new off the current five string model (same as the original string tree and the maverick string tree) So I snagged that.

And here is the control plate. SansRegret is currently making it since Kevin James isn't doing an order any time soon. This will serve as a temporary one unless I get it chromed. Also, the pickup covers are dull plastic so he sprayed some laquer so it will soak it up and make it glossy. I might dull it a tad to a silky finish. This is all coming along great. I just contact Cross about starting the neck!

I'd leave the lacquer on the pickups as is, you'll get a cool vintage bakelite look.

Easiest fretjob ever. All necks should only have 15 frets.

I need to make the tuners holes slightly larger. It appears you can only buy 16mm or 18mm spade drill bits. These holes need to be 17mm.

Cooterfinger wrote:Here's where I've got to. So far I've got the alder planed down and glued up, body shape cut out, the edges routed flush and the pickguard made.
I need to make the neck pocket template next. If you look at the template in the background you can see the outline of the Swinger and how it lines up inside the bass v template.
