I have a bit of money burning a hole in my pocket and a desire to spend it on music hardware like a badass. Here is a poll for me to completely ignore the results of when I go and impulse buy the one that actually got the least votes.

Here are some criteria:

A thing I want: A big solidbody guitar that makes a really loud noise.

Here are some things I don't currently have: An acoustic guitar of some description
A Burns Bison
A straight-up solidbody guitar that makes a loud noise
An analog synthesizer.

Probably the Gretsch or Micro-Brute. The Gretsch is more expensive than the other stuff. Micro-Brute would be more fun if you get other stuff to go with it, like Volcas or a Rhythm Wolf.

Fiddling with knobs and keys in the store, I was much more impressed with the Novation Bass Station II compared to the Microbrute.

Arturia MiniBrute suffers from bad QC reviews/build but it sounds awesome. Don't know if it improved with Micro.

Ive been looking for for an analog synth too. I played around w/ both the bass station 2 and the microbrute and I liked the bs2 a bit better. Theyre completely different beasts tho.

I'd get that gretsch I've been wanting a gretsch style hollowbody. Maybe another silvertone/harmony. Since its hollow it's prolly loud enough for you not to need an acoustic.

It's not fully hollow. I think it has a solid centre block running right through it. Which makes it slightly more of a solid-body than my Epiphone Riviera.

The fake Les Paul job or a Gordon Smith and stop fucking around with guitars you think you want.

If you really want an acoustic, spend extra monies and energies on that.

Plus buy a synth too. Because you clearly have need for both, they both do separate jobs and therefore aren't represented by the same block of money.

Bison - I love Burns Bisons. Yet to play a Gretsch that hasn't been underwhelming shite, fuck an Dano, leave teh keyboards to the nerds. Ditto jazzboxes.

Those Gretsch G5622T CB's have a notably hot trio of pickups, a delightfully noisy mess only aesthetically in common with the HiloTrons. They're also really solid pieces without all the weight, and I'd totally recommend for some hard playing + wobble action...not to attempt to contradict Tim's disapproval of every single Gretsch he's stumbled over upon or nuthin.

Plus, the Bigsby B700 rubber prophylactic keeps things 'safe', y'know.

Nah, I even kinda would agree with you though on some definite points even if it applied to some of the Pre-Fenner Dyna Gakki Gretchsers. The TOM-equivalent that was used for example is a horribly buzzy disaster. Our G6122-1962 and G6196TSP-2G have gotten the treatment courtesy of Compton Compensated stainless steel one-piece bridges and they are that much better now, but my bashed up '93 G6128T has floating base studs that are of an entirely different radii and width...and ruins so much of an otherwise great sounding guitar...Dig in, and all Tartarus breaks looks.

I'm the only person who voted for the Relevation. I stand by my vote. It looks cool. I think it will make a lot of noise. You listed it first. You must want it most.

Alan Entwhistle has a great reputation with many years' experience in design...for the money, Revelation. And you'll have parts & repair specialists at hand.

Ooohhh, but it is you who put it as an option, innit? I didn't play any of that and have no idea how much each item costs, but it seems to me that Roebro is right with his mem.

I voted for the Gretsch, but perhaps I'd go for the Bison and the Arturia Microbrute for about the same money as the Gretsch alone?
