Pickguard choices for cyclone rebuild

Post by luciguci »

I have a CAR Squier Cyclone reissue that I gutted when I was a stupid teenager and I didn't know what I was doing, and now I'm stuck with a husk of a guitar. I plan to rebuild it with a new pickguard and new electronics, but first things first, what color pickguard should I go with? I was thinking white pearloid with black pickups, but it feels too much like a standard mustang configuration, so I was also thinking tortoiseshell with cream colored pickups but I haven't seen a good convincing image of CAR and tortoiseshell with cream pickups. So, I want you guys to help me decide. If anyone has a pic of CAR with tort and cream pickups, that would be excellent.

(i know its fiesta red but im sure CAR would look good too)

Otherwise I think Tort would be a good choice.

The Sloan option. Is this going to be a decoupage treatment like HNB? Or are you going to custom-make a Hello Kitty style faceplate?

Nah I'm gonna order the pickguard off of pickguardian probably, I don't have the tools or skills to make my own. Otherwise I'd be using an old scratched up record.

Mint always looks good on red, I think.

Brown tort would probably look better than red tort on a CAR guitar.

I'd stick with the Pearl personally, but if you don't like it it'll be hard to find a good pick guard color combo that goes well with CAR.

Mint, red tort, brown tort all would look great, but I voted for Pearl.
