Shortscale nutt

Post by robroe »

Im putting together some shit for a buddy and I need a nut for a 24" jagmaster neck. I'm guessing it's around 42mm like all my other shit.

Can I go to gc and get any old fender brand nut or do I need to order something special for it?

You'll probably need to sand/file down the bottom/sides to fit; it unlikely just drop in unless you're buying an official Fender US Standard Strat nut for your Fender US Standard Stratocaster.

I'd personally measure the existing nut/neck first and then buy, to save ball-ache.

The main thing to worry about is if the bottom is flat or curved.

Then just measure the neck, and see whether the hole is curved or flat at the bottom. Otherwise I've found them to be fairly consistent, bar a little sanding. If you can I'd take the neck to the shop to get the closest fit.

Pay extra and get a tech to make one for it.

I've got a preslotted one my mate fit on my Jaguar. It's passable but not completely happy with it.
