Boss ME-5 multi fx 1988

Post by Jagtornado »

Hi guys,

The good old floorprocessor from Boss The ME-5 released in 1988 containing mostly analog fx. Is it true that your signal is converted from analog to digital right after the input? And at the end of the chain is converted back to analog?

Or does it have an analog signal path and when used is the digital delay/reverb (the only digital fx in the device) added to the signal in parallel?

Cheers

The second, according to the service manual. There is one A/D/A chip; it is fed from and returns signal to the delay/reverb tone circuit. Everywhere else it's analogue. Extensive use is made of analogue multiplexer chips that can be digitally controlled.

Heard those were great multi-fx boxes. Like a bunch of vintage MIJ Boss pedals in a box. Might become collectable.
