but without the stupid looking superfluous jazz trem plate on the back, i dig it a lot actually also just about NUTTED over those new 12 strings. I'm not too mad about that powercaster either, i like how it hits on classic fender offset style but at the same time, its something new and modern looking and not horrendously fucking ugly like a lot of recent attempts from fender at being modern. dont like that they used the headstock to scrape out a bedpan though, and am indifferent to the stop tail bridge, would personally prefer just a standard fender hardtail bridge, but whatever works is fine with me.

edit: i just realized the powercaster looks like an unmelted meteora, thats why i like it so much. fuck that meteora long ass body bullshit theres TOO MUCH SHIT THERE cut it out

Trying to work out if I can justify owning two 12 strings...

In what way is it alternate reality? Is it just the 3 way switch and color?

Either way I'm really tempted by both the XII and the Jag....thought I was done with guitars, now I might actually have to join a band again to justify adding to the guitar budget. The xii is probably easier to justify since I sold my Dano dc12 last year due to guilt.

Yeah, not sure on that. Bridge and switch are different but it's hardly a totally different guitar like the others in the range. Someone on OSG reckons the body shape is different?

im really curious to know what the difference is going to be between the VM and CV offset models. that "fender designed" single coil stuff makes me wanna say theyre more vintage voice pickups rather than the modern duncan designed pickups? that would be fucking incredible if so. that would be like having an AVRI but for 400 bucks and a finish that doesnt melt

The bridges look different too - they don't have the height adjustment screws on the saddles. Bodies are poplar instead of basswood. They've got narrow-tall frets instead of medium-jumbo. All assuming the photos/specs doing the rounds are accurate.

i'm looking forward to someone still ditching those bridges for a mastery or something and reselling their stock bridge, ever since staytrem has kinda pulled out of international orders.

I'm always reassured seeing stuff like $10,000 Jimmy Page Teles and a few more differently-inlaid Squiers that I'll be able to resist the psiren song of NAMM more and more with each passing year.

That XII.
That fucking XII.

The bridge seems to be a Gotoh bridge put on a base that resembles the shape of the original bridge. Wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but it might bug some people

Damn, fender dropping some straight heat this year, taking some risks too. Might actually have to support this year on one of those 70's jaguars. Don't imagine I'll have that XII cash, but still cool they're bringing it back.
Good shit, Fender.
