I got this Acoustic 50 watt tube amp last year for my birthday. ive been running it thru a fender 1x12 ive had since 1996 that was an extension cab for my COUGAR1000.

soooo like it didn't sound good. kinda blown out and muffly...??? hard to describe the LACK OF TONEZ

THEN

like 3 weeks ago i bought a 10 inch floor monitor cabinet made by KUSTOM for like 49 bucks used. and it sounds FUCKING SWEET with that. super crisp and loud as fuck thru this little floor monitor.

so then i got it in my head that I'm going to quit fucking around with 25 year old cabinets that weren't that great to start with and used cheap asssss shit impulse buy stuff i found in the pro audio room at GC, sit down, do some real research and figure out WHAT DO I WANT, HOW DO I GET THERE, HOW DO I NOT GO BROKE.

all roads came to this harley benton cabinet. so i pulled the old "HEY HILARY, ILL GIVE YOU HALF THE MONEY AND YOU ORDER IT FOR ME FOR FATHERS DAY AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT FIGURING OUT WHAT PAJAMA PANTS YOU ARE GONNA BUY ME THAT IM NOT GOING TO USE."

they would have matched better but the speakers aren't as nice in this one, and its 10 dollars more new.

I have one of these. Def worth the money. Also looking into a 2x10 option instead though which will be easier to lug around if I need an extension cab.

a little bit more about this amp.

its got 3 channels, built in reverb, built in saltbooser, all switchable on pedal.

its got a 1/2 power toggly on the front of the amp. and then like a pentode switch on the back...or triode...i cant remember. i have fucked around with it and cant tell any difference in tones, anyone know how to use these?

and then with TRAWN i got 2 more select-able overdrives that i can apply any of the 3 channels.

what I normally use is Clean Channel, boost on, and THRAWN with the right light on whatever that is. lol. i think the right side is called King of Tone circuit.

I saw some guy on YouTube reviewing it, he came to the conclusion that it's probably something of a loss leader for the brand since the speakers alone cost more than the cab. Definitely a steal!

I remember when I first joined shortscale (2008, despite what my profile says thanks Miek) that loads of people had those - think Hurb had one. There was talk then about it being cheaper than you could actually buy two Vintage 30s for.

Pair it with a Tiny Terror for ultimate oldskool shortscale m@j@.

What is the difference between closed and open back cabinetes? Better low end in a closed construction?

yeah its tighter sounding, i've seen combos and cabs that have a removable back panel so you can choose how you want the bass response to sound

Aye, I used a HB 1x12 that Miek gave me with my Orange TT for quite a while.
Decent sound and super light to transport around. I think they're made from balsa wood or something. It was a godsend after lugging that Peavey Twin around, I swear it was that thing that gave me the hernia.

I had one of these as the first cab I ever owned. I was a damn fool for selling it.

I got one years ago from Hurb. It's a great cab, especially for the money.
