The neck pocket was particularly troublesome I was using a mini-router and there’s just not enough flat surface to keep it from getting kinked up. . I see the advantage of doing the route before cutting out the body now.

Lesson learned.

If you’re going to reproduce a CBS era Fender, it should be up to CBS era “standards.

I did the body edge radius and the arm and belly cuts

I've never done the cuts so they're a little bit not perfect the belly cut in particular is more of a V shape than a scoop.

It's been raining too much, and now it's too hot, and for a while I was too depressed to do any work on guitars, but, I was able to make the neck templates yesterday.

Image

I've also been distracted by this

Image

I've got basically (pun intended) got everything to make a bass neck. A lovely piece of birdseye maple my brother gave me years ago, a StewMac pre-radiused and pre-fret slotted rosewood board (which I'm going to re-radius to 7.25") and a low profile dual action truss rod.

I started a template for that but the router bit I was going to use was effed up and I didn't have anymore 1/4 MDF
