Apartment Guitar Amp

Post by Gabriel »

Recently I moved over to New York, and as such I'm now living in an apartment building. So I needed a little guitar amp I can play at home. I ended up going for a Yamaha THR10C. It's been great, except I wasn't happy with the high gain tones. Eventually I figured out that through using the THR editor software you can hit the front end of the amp with the compressor as a booster. Sounds awesome:

Doesn't sound super high gain, but those are strat pickups. You could probably get more gain with humbuckers.

When you press the accelerator past halfway it doesn’t actually go any faster, but the engine noise distorts

Yeah I picked it up recently. It's a really nice guitar. There's something about the ergonomics of the body combined with the vintage style neck that sits really well with my playing.

Yeah! Good spot catching the wedding ring haha. I got married in August, which is why I've moved over to the states.

You're right, the pickups in this strat are fairly low output. With humbuckers on this setup you get a lot of saturation.

Yeah, it's not the best audio quality as it's not using IR's or anything, but it sounds generally pretty good. What's nice is that the playback comes through the aux channel via usb.

Awesome, reminds me of myself on the 90s, except for the huge cabs.

Is the Marshall a 4x10" or 2x12"? You have both of them plugged in?

Good to hear; I just bought myself THR10II for Xmas (partial present from the fam, so won't get it til Xmas); it has all of the previous version model "types" in one plus bluetooth for jamming along to my Santana backing tracks
