That'd look sick, and would make a nice noise with your metal picks slapping it, CLACK CLACK

You might get hit by lightning though

Chrome would be cool and with the abalone dots, more coherent

I can't figure out whether or not I'm being mocked here.

A lot of the ones I can find online are proper shiny mirrored guards, which isn't what I want. Something a little bit dull and fucked looking like this would be cool:

no mocking!

You can always just take some fine-ish sandpaper to it to scuff and matte it up, eeeasy

Or go full on with some patina biz:

Get yer Bilge Pump on

(i.e. please remove that that scratchplate, eugh)
I think Joe Bilge actually has a plain red guard on (presumably) that same Tele nowadays:

He builds most of his gear himself as well, AFAIK!

Go with leopard print!

though black single ply is cool

I don't think you're the mirror guard type.

I think the metal guard would be fantastic. I'm not into bashing aesthetics, so I'll just say that the blonde/natural telecaster blackguard look is certainly a solid classic, but it's really a joy to see that finish paired with anything a little more daring. I actually liked the natural/tort that it showed up in though.

Did you mean to type "neck" and make a grievous error, please?

I like it, it reminds me of my own Strat:

Also, do an Electrosocket jack stat. The jack on my Thinline is loose atm and it's a fucking pain.

Good God, I hate those old jack sockets, almost as much as I hate the fact people/companies still install and use them by choice

I've put football jack plates on every Tele I've ever had except my Lite Ash, which has the socket. We're cool for now, but if it acts up ONE TIME, it's outta here

I don't think there is a guitar I think this whole thread was a setup for:

The “two sheds remark was some primo Benecol content, it’s true.

Weird, it doesn’t look like it in that photo but it does already have an electro socket! The only mods I can see myself making imminently are the pickguard (actually starting to lean towards the leopard print a la Prince) and maybe switching from the ashtray style to a flat bridge plate like on my Squier. My technique is terrible and I’m finding myself whacking the upper lip more than I’d like.

I’ve got this strung up with 11s now and it feels great. The skunk stripe doesn’t feel as weird either now, presumably because it’s adjusted to a more pleasant temperature (it was freezing and covered in condensation when it arrived on Friday).
