I don't know how it will hold up but it definitely darkens it. Still a bit dry looking but I think that's the nature of Indian laurel. But will add some lemon oil on top when I get some.

Stewmac used to sell stain for lightly coloured rosewood boards that got good reviews but it doesn't sell anymore. There are threads on the webs about people discussing staining Pau Ferro boards. Didn't read deep enough to have any information on what they use and how it works. As your Jag has blocks and binding it would be an extra complication I guess not to stain them, maybe mask tape them

I was wondering this too. I don't know anything about Indian laurel. It's quite oily, isn't it? I'd be tempted to go for it with an alcohol based stain, but there's the risk that it would end up patchy.
I suppose it will take some people knackering their guitars to find out the best way to do this.
This is exactly the sort of thing that, fifteen years ago, you would Lycos it and find a couple of different forums where people had tried different ways of getting the wood darker, and there would be a sticky thread for it in our projects section. The fact that you can't do that I suppose points to the wider death of forums online and a certain culture.
