Nice work, MacGyver
There don't seem to be any easily available strings that are light enough/long enough for that top A/B.

This is what I did too! Way better, I reckon.
(do you wax pot everything now? Do your family live in fear that you'll decide they're microphonic next?)

Bass vi update.
Have installed a Avantguard tort pickguard and turned it into a Baritone tuned A.
Also had a go wax potting the bridge pickup ( all of the pickups are microphonic) but haven't had a chance to see if it worked
Pizza guard
How did you go about waxpotting them? Did you use real wax or paraphine? What was your process? Did you put a pan inside a pan with boiling water to melt wax/paraphine?
I have an old Melody Maker pickup I snatched on ebay more than a decade ago for close to nothing. It's microphonic and I was thinking about waxpotting it. Chances are I will destroy it in the process, so I have lots of doubts.
The irony is that basically every shitty noname Chinese pickup comes waxpotted these days

Pretty much as you said. I just melted some candles I had at home.
On the bass vi it worked and has stopped the squeal. Tried on another guitar and it made it better but not perfect. If it helps though I haven't killed a pickup yet!

Some folks use straight paraffin wax some a mix of paraffin and bee’s wax.
It’s best to suspend the pickup in the wax until bubbles stop coming out.
I’ve never potted a pickup but I’ve watched a ton of videos and bought a 2nd hand mini-crock pot for the future.

Ideal for crack for one, but a bit tiresome if you're entertaining.
