That’s cool. The strats of the same scale length get a pretty good rep. I think a set of 11s, and you’re off to the races.

Set of 11s on my daughter's Squier Mini, plays great.

That second video, the guy gives the impression of not having a basic understanding of how guitars work.

I’m no guitar tech wizard, but I’m pretty sure saying “I set it all up to play, the bridge adjustment wasn’t too bad and then saying “the intonation is awful means you fucked up your setup, dude

That guy's channel is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me (its like Rigs Of Dad: Grunge Edition), and I can vouch that he's not a complete imbecile; I've seen him set up guitars properly.

It strikes me that a lot of those problems are probably down to a poor choice of string gauge for the tiny scale length?

I was hearing quite a bit of string buzz in that video.

According to the Fender website, they're strung w/ 9-42s, so between cheap thin strings, cheap ceramic humbuckers, and cheap electronic components (and cheap tonewood lolz), I don’t doubt that it doesn’t sound all that great.

I'm sure all you gotta do to fix it is tune it to F instead of E.

when I did that on my 90s duo sonic it went from a complete did to daily player.

The compstang behind him in this thumbnail looks EXACTLY like mine

I'm sure his doesn't stay in tune and he hates it while mine is fine.

All those books are in a box somewhere in the garage now. If an EMP ever destroys youtube I will use them again

1/2 or 1 step up also works similarly great on $25 ukuleles and such.
