That guy fucking LOVES to bang on about shit; I went into Macari's with my gf earlier this year/late last year, and he pretty much launched into his script the second my eyes pointed a Tone Bender.

Meh, I'm more interested in the HM-2w. \m/

Not sure why they went for a MKII when there are SO many clones of them around already

I think I've owned three of them. First one cost me £35 back in 2009 or so.

I remember both an oldass RAT and an HM-2 in the local crappy music store's 'used pedals' case when I was 15.

So now instead of buying a 200-300 dollar used beat up HM-2 I can buy a bright and shiny 200-300 dollar HM-2? Sounds like a bargain to me

I think the other Waza craft dirt pedals (BD-2w, SD-1w, MT-2w) are about 150USD? Would probably expect the HM-2w to be similar. Based on how they've handled these to date, it should also have a new "custom" mode as well as a recreation of the original circuit.

Why would I want a new mode on an HM-2? It does one thing. It’s only ever done one thing.

Eh, it seems more flexible than what just death metal has done with it; a lot of that sound is just turning up the level so much that it's kicking the shit out of your amp's preamp.

To be less of a douche, I’m interested to see what else it can do. Despite the sarcasm I am actually excited that there’s a new HM-2 on the market, even if it doesn’t drop the price of used ones

I've had mine for almost 30 years ( shit, that makes me feel old) and have never played teh metalz. I got one because a lot of the shoegaze bands were using them (especially MBV IIRC).

Wasn't Dave Gilmour a big user of the HM-2 as well?

Yes to all of this... including owning one so long it makes me feel old.

It was my first pedal (HM-2) and I dearly regret selling it.

It didn't sound like Nevermind though, like.

I've built a few (working on one now actually) for customers and they sound great - you add a mid control in there and modify the gain control so it has some range to it and it's an incredibly versatile distortion

Oh and the Macari's guy hounded me online to stop using the term tonebender on any pedals I built a few years back, I guess in preparation for this land grab

Think I’ve got day off tomorrow. Gonna head Macaris and see if can get him started on Tonebenders just so I can rudely walk off mid sentence.
