Made it public. That might do it?

gusman2x wrote: Great use of German language samples (which I found incredibly hard to find good ones). The The big slow attack pads, reminiscent of a 90s Batman movie, coupled with the percussive hook make for a real driving sound.
I also used the chord progression of heroes and tried to simulate the sustained note from heroes and a sample from sound & vision

Nearly finished mine. Stuck on a technical problem that I'm sure was solved 6 or so hours back.

Cup of tea and a run will fix it, I'm sure.

Not quite convinced by it, but the cat hates it so that's mission accomplished.

My ears hurt.

gusman2x wrote:Definite John Carpenter vibes coming off this one from Bacchus Paul. I do like a bit of horror in my downtime. The wavey saw melody adds a level of un nerve to it that's awesome. Don't know the reference material, but I'm a Bowie luddite - Edible Cannibals - A Line Has Two Sides
I chose to base mine off a random selection from Eno and Schmidt's Oblique Strategies, which were used throughout the creation of the Bowie triptych.

The random Oblique Strategy I got was "A line has two sides."

I decided I would have a tone steadily descend throughout, changing and evolving as it goes. As it evolves, different sets of material would be developed according to different rules depending on whether it was above or below the line (in term of pitch).

Then, I got thinking about Mobius strips, and how they are lines that don't have two sides. And it got me thinking about Shepard tones. So I though I'd use Shepard tones instead, and pretty much abandoned my original idea. I spent aaaaaages trying create convincing Shepard tones using a bank of synths. I got close once or twice, but was never really happy with it. In the meantime, I wrote the rest of the material. I liked how calm and happy the bassline sounded, particularly in contrast the anxiety inducing Shepard tones. So I decided to try to write very simple, very basic melodies and tried to juxtapose that sort of contented sound along with the other, weird sounds.

Eventually I gave up on the Shepard tones and just downloaded a Max/MSP device that generates them (Shepard Box). This was pretty unruly, I didn't have control over pitch or rate or volume. The piece might actually sound better without these. Haven't checked.

The "drums" are a take on a modified Motorik beat, which was pretty ubiquitous in Krautrock. But robbed of its rhythmic impulse by being slowed down massively so as to not be noticeable as Motorik, and with other things phrased awkwardly against it.

I wanted to make all the sounds with a Mini Moog model. Had to give up on this because of using the Shepard Box. Everything else is Mini Moog, though.

Paul, never heard of shepard tones but now off to research them

i forgot I used a motorik type beat in mine also but at a slower tempo and with little dynamics to make it totally slow robot like instead of the intended pulsating driver of the song

lots of great music has come out of detroit so create some electronic music based on detroit so whether its a style, song or about something to do with Detroit, etc then do it. you could do a techno mash up of john lee hooker or a ambient track based on a stevie wonder track or use the chords of Kick out the Jams and make it synthwave. it's up to you :)
