Bass VI Click bait

Post by Hurb »

Hopefully not really click bait. I get asked a few times if you should play the bass vi through a guitar or bass amp and I am sick of replying 'do what you want noobs!'

Good demo of how an amp, and what you're playing really influences the sound of a VI.
Likewise, I run through my bass amp or guitar amp depending on the role I'm using the VI in. For a while I was biamping into the bass and guitar amp - it sounded great, but the reality of hauling, loading in/tearing down the two amp setup was just a pain in the ass that the audience doesn't really notice/appreciate, so stripped back.

Cheers! Yep definitely depends on what your playing. But it certainly functions as a bass or a odd guitar.

I mean it's not the end of the world but if your channel is destroying amps, start out with the amp. Don't start the demo with fake drums and expect me not to turn it immediately off.

I mean. I appreciate your support Rob, but bar 2 of my first 2 videos, all of my demos have been recorded this way.
I record my demos usually at night about 14 feet from where my kids sleep. This plus the fact I have been locked in my modest sized house for a year now with my family and I am not an asshole means my amp rarely gets turned on. I've destroyed plenty in my time.

As for fake drums? I am nor Steve albiniz so I reckon fake drums will have to do for my 580 subscribers.

Agree though, the production quality is great. Mainly down to you Hurb, but amazing how good consumer tech sounds these days

I have to say I was always dead against plug ins and amp sims. But they have saved my life this past year (2020/2021) and my family's ears! I think guitar rig 5 sounds great and it was free as is the version of Ableton I use. the audio interface was sub 100 too.
I know you were talking about the audio, but I am quite proud of my video in this one too. Not bad for some cheap ebay lights and my phone camera.
