it's the bullet model in comp orange they didn't release in the states for some reason. i was thinking i could convert it to a real mustang with some pickups, a guard, and some routing if i really want to have the correct switching. my understanding is they went for around $200 abroad, so paying this much on top of that seem looney. am i better off getting a warmoth body?

Bullet mustangs are never going to be worth that much, not even in competition finishes. Build that shit yourself

Yeah, Bullet Mustangs have a very thin body at about 35 mm, like Gibson SG thin. The "real" ones are around 38-40mm thick and though it seems like it's not that big a difference it's super noticeable in person. Also you might not like the neck. It's rather wide and on a thinner side and has a flatter radius - not bad, but not your typical Mustang neck as I understand it.

You could buy a used Classic Vibe one and have it refinished

The stripes and color don't even look right.

I kind of like colour of the Squier though. Not so much Competition Orange as Daft Orange.

Yeah they had a run of affinity teles and strats in that color, I like it better on those.

Glad I came here first as I've been gas'ing for the comp orange stang forever. Warmoth or similar approach it is then.

You could very easily make a comp duo sonic like the Alstang and Padmé.

Once I get my templates crafted to satisfaction I can be be the go to for custom Mustang/Duo-Sonics/Musicmasters/Swangers.

Or just holding you through the night.

Duplicate those templates and I’d absolutely buy some to save myself the trouble of making them myself

The price of that ebay guitar is more than a painted Warmoth body made out of better wood.

I'm not crazy about the stang tailpiece. It goes out of tune with serious reverb handling, and I spent lots of time trying to set it up and trying everything. Which isn't the case with a Bigsby without a tension bar. O.k., that does take time finding a bridge which will work well and we're talking different types of guitars.

That said, I really like my VM and CV 'stangs, but if I was starting over I'd probably go for parts Duo Sonic IIs or something like that.

i am leaning toward the warmoth direction for sure. i threw the specs into their builder with capri orange and a modified mustang bridge/routing which came to $375. the neck was roughly the same, and with the pickguard it's at about $830. pickups, switching, knobs, and wiring will probably add another $100 or so. looking like all said and done, this is a $1000'ish investment.

there's a vintera neck on ebay for about $300 right now which would save me on that piece of it... though i kinda am wanting a matching headstock which i haven't even priced at warmoth yet.

Would the Jagmaster neck Dave is selling be any good?
